WhY WE ROCK

Pam’s Journey

I found a lump in my breast on October 14, 2021.

On October 29th while at work, I got a call from an Oncology Nurse Navigator (not a good sign) telling me it’s cancer, and it’s aggressive.

Shit.

Everything as I currently knew it came to a screeching halt and a whole new part of my life took off like a bat outta Hell!

It was a whirlwind of tests, exams, procedures, rearranging my life, and of course, telling family and friends. Lots of tears, but also lots of love, hope, and support.

Within 2 weeks of my diagnosis, I was in full-on chemotherapy treatment for triple-negative breast cancer.

Every week for 24 weeks-sometimes twice a week.

No more working. No more anything for now.

This is my full-time job: taking care of myself and surviving.

My new motto: One day at a time!

Sometimes… one minute at a time.

My beautiful partner Jody took care of me and all of the daily life activities at our home, my wonderful family reached out with prayers and cards from near and far and all of my amazing friends gave me delicious food, hope, laughter, and tons and tons of love.

Every day, no matter how big or small the gesture, every bit helped. Some days it was really hard and scary, some days it was not so bad. The love and support just kept pouring in! I am so lucky and forever grateful.

All of these fantastic people helped save my life

in one way or another! Thank you. I love you. You ROCK!

And now I am ready to ROCK!

So Let’s ROCK!

I am also very thankful for and amazed by all the medical professionals, scientists, and researchers who work so hard and are dedicated to saving our lives! I had many kind, smart people that played a role in my cancer care and I was well taken care of every step of the way. My Oncology Team got me through some very intense toxic drug regimens and my surgeons performed a successful double mastectomy leaving me with a beautiful flat chest (see link below). I had a “Complete Pathologic Response” which means I am cancer-free as far as modern medicine can tell.

It is the best possible outcome!

I am so Thankful.
